Becoming an entrepreneur…oh yes, but are you really ready for it?
The beginnings in entrepreneurship can be the hardest period of this challenge, full of doubts and uncertainty. Most of us started without any help and learnt along the way.
To deep dive into this not so well-known topic, I interviewed Inès Schubi, nutrition coach who started her business after discovering the IKIGAI, a Japanese method based on finding what gets you up every morning and keeps you going.
She describes her own journey full of ups and downs and how important it is to know what you love to do and why.
A BIT OF BACKGROUND
Ines journey’s to entrepreneurship started like a lot of us; with passion. She discovered holistic health and wellness from figuring out how to cure her eczema, and decided to turn her learning on how she overcame it into a program to empower women. Inès is on a mission! To make people eating curiously, to enable them to feed themselves so they can feed their career and their dreams!
But this is only the nice part of the story, and like in every success story, there are always hard times. At the beginning of her journey, Inès decided to take the challenge to launch her new business while backpacking in South America with her brother. This was without realising how hard it would be to manage a business and a trip at the same time.
KNOW WHY YOU START
It can be easy to take action to start and even easier to doubt. Like everything in life, asking yourself why your doing something and how it’s going to serve you and others are non-negotiable questions. By making it clear from the start, it can help us face hard moments.
“As long as you try, you will experiment failure. Try until something clicks but don’t compare yourself to others and remember why you started.”
WHAT TO KNOW WHEN YOU START
Starting a new business is always exciting, but also draining. There are some things to consider and tips to keep in mind to stay on the right track. Here are some important points:
- Get help: don’t hesitate to ask for help or get a coach.
- Remember why you started your business and keep that in mind along the way.
- Make sure you have an income on the side for less stress.
- Failure doesn’t define you as a person.
- Prioritize your health; especially what you eat and fuel your body with each day.
Ines opens the door on her whole entrepreneurship journey. From all the hard times, failures and questions she had from the beginning to the freedom she’s proud to have acquired. But also, she makes us wonder what’s the definition of success as an entrepreneur and the space money can take in our head.
