We take the step, we sign the first client.
We feel like we are on fire. We get more and more clients. So many, that we start looking to scale our business from solo entrepreneur to CEO. So we hire.
But we still feel underwater, still feel overwhelmed, still feel like there are still so many things to think. It starts to be draining.
That’s when you have to think of systems and automation.
In this episode, I am talking with Claire, a business system and automation coach, and the founder of Artificially Intelligent Consulting. Claire will explain how systems and automation can increase our efficiency and productivity in our business.
When you are an entrepreneur, we have so much in our head. This discussion will definitely give us some clues to free up our mind.
A bit of background
During her past experience, Claire witnessed how having systems and automation completely changed productivity and efficiency at work.
Inspired, she decided to learn more about business. She ended up growing brands and she found that what she had learnt about process and automation was really helpful to make these brands evolve and grow.
Why types vs how types*
In the course of her career path, Claire needed to be more aligned with her values. She decided to pivot and met a lot of incredible entrepreneurs, creative, passionate, successful but … OVERWHELMED.
They all knew their “why”, they probably didn’t know their “how”.
Coming from a systems and processes background, Claire knew the “how”. She started to think she could help these people with incredible “whys”. That’s how she really got into creating her business. That’s how she started helping these entrepreneurs getting their “how”, to get them that structure and automation that they need to just really focus on their why.
When we start in business, we think it’s only going to be about the service or product we want to provide. It’s only going to be about creativity and things like that. We forget all the administrative side of being in business. It becomes like a back noise in our head, that we know needs to be done, but we don’t know how or don’t have the time to think about it and get it done.
And we underestimate how that back noise can actually be negative for our well-being, even when we are happy. We’re not sleeping that well, or today we feel a bit low. Keeping all of this background noise definitely impacts us. All that pressure has to go somewhere and it will manifest one way or another.
If we don’t find a way to get it out, it kind of takes over and stops us from being able to get things done and use our full potential. Claire’s business is all about taking that back noise off entrepreneurs’ head.
Never memorize something that you can look up – Albert Einstein
It’s a very good way of thinking about your business. If you can take it out of your head, if you can put it out into a system, just do it. And then think about the stuff that can’t be systemised. But everything else, OUT.
This will really allow you to relax and focus on what’s important for your business, and grow.
Benefits of systems
- Financial and scalability : when you have systems in place, you can really understand what is actually moving the needle. You can focus on what’s going to generate you the more clients, the more money.
- Capacity : when you have these processes in place, that gives you the capacity to take on MORE clients, so you can really start to grow and scale, without becoming overwhelmed.
- Creativity : having systems and automation free up your mind so you can focus on doing what you are good at.
Business should be about supporting your lifestyle. Having the systems and automations in place allows your business to work without you if you want to take a holiday or just your afternoon off.
Having processes and systems in place gives you that freedom and peace of mind that we are all aiming for as entrepreneurs.
